Service

For this short-term pop-up, the client needed a compact but high-impact brand presence that could be installed and removed with minimal disruption. We designed and fabricated modular fixtures, including feature shelving, a cash wrap and a product storytelling wall, all sized to work within the mall’s footprint and guidelines.

Branded large-format graphics wrap the exterior and interior surfaces, creating strong visibility from the main concourse. Overhead and wall-mounted signage clearly identify the brand and help guide traffic into the space.

All components were engineered for quick installation and clean removal, with finishes chosen to stand up to intense traffic over the campaign period. The result is a pop-up environment that feels like a fully branded store while maintaining the flexibility and practicality of a temporary activation.

Project Snapshot

  • Client: National consumer brand (seasonal campaign)

  • Sector: Retail / Experiential

  • Location: Initial launch in a major shopping centre, followed by a multi-location tour

  • Scope: Pop-up footprint, feature wall, product displays, backdrops and signage

  • Services: Design-for-fabrication, fixtures, graphics, architectural finishes, installation & kitting

  • Duration: Concept to onsite launch in a compressed campaign timeline

Overview

The client’s marketing team wanted a pop-up experience that felt like a mini-flagship store, not just a table in the mall. The environment needed to:

  • Showcase hero products

  • Deliver an immersive, photo-friendly brand moment

  • Work within strict landlord rules and floor area limits

  • Be fast to install, easy to ship, and durable enough for repeated use

Architectural Fusion Finishes was engaged to translate the creative concept into buildable fixtures, graphics, and finishes that could travel and perform in real-world conditions.

The Challenge

  • Tight timeline. The campaign had a fixed launch date, leaving limited time for prototyping and revisions.

  • Multiple locations. The pop-up needed to work in different mall layouts with varying sightlines and traffic flows.

  • Landlord restrictions. Height, footprint, fixings to the floor/walls, and lighting all had to comply with center guidelines.

  • Durability & reusability. Fixtures and graphics had to withstand repeated assembly, disassembly, shipping, and storage without quickly looking tired.

The core challenge:

Create a high-end, immersive brand moment using components that behave like a touring kit.

Our Approach & Solution

AFF developed a modular, kit-of-parts system combining fixtures, panels, and graphics.

  1. Design-for-fabrication

    • Reviewed the client’s campaign visuals and initial sketches.

    • Proposed a family of modular elements: back wall, hero product plinths, side wings, and a central demo station.

    • Standardized dimensions and connections to work in both small and larger footprints.

  2. Modular fixtures & surfaces

    • Built lightweight, robust fixtures that could be flat-packed and reassembled using simple hardware.

    • Wrapped key surfaces in architectural films to deliver a premium finish (wood grains, matte colors, and metallic accents) while protecting underlying structures.

    • Designed fixtures so feature faces could be reskinned for future campaigns.

  3. Immersive graphic environment

    • Produced large-format backdrop panels to create a strong visual frame visible from across the mall.

    • Integrated brand storytelling, key messaging, and lifestyle imagery into the walls and side panels without overwhelming the product.

    • Included a photo-friendly moment / social media backdrop to encourage sharing.

  4. Kitting, instructions & logistics

    • Kitted all components with clear labelling, hardware packs, and step-by-step assembly guides.

    • Designed crates and packaging to protect finished surfaces during transport.

    • Coordinated first install and provided guidance for subsequent remote installs by local teams.

Materials & Methods

  • Fixtures & Structures

    • Modular wall frames and freestanding panels

    • Product plinths and shelving with integrated storage

    • Demo table / consultation counter

  • Architectural Finishes

    • Wood-grain and solid-colour films applied to fixture faces

    • Durable laminate or film wraps on high-touch surfaces

  • Branded Graphics

    • Large-format printed backdrops and side panels

    • Interchangeable campaign panels for future reuse

    • Directional and messaging decals for floor and fixtures

  • Production & Install Approach

    • Precision fabrication for consistent fit across kits

    • Pre-fitting and test assembly in the shop before shipping

    • On-site installation timed to work within mall access windows

Results & Impact

  • High-visibility presence. The pop-up stood out in a busy shopping centre, clearly communicating the brand story and drawing traffic from multiple approaches.

  • Fast installs and tear-downs. The modular kit allowed the team to set up and strike the environment quickly, fitting landlord schedules and campaign timelines.

  • Reusable, future-proof assets. Fixtures and many graphic components were designed to be re-skinned and reused in subsequent campaigns, improving ROI.

  • Stronger brand experience. Compared to a standard table or banner stand setup, the pop-up felt like an extension of a permanent retail space, reinforcing the brand’s positioning.

  • Scalable concept. The approach is adaptable for future product launches, seasonal campaigns, and co-branded activations.

Scope of Work

  • Review of campaign creative and initial concept

  • Design-for-fabrication and modular layout planning

  • Fixture engineering and material selection

  • Application of architectural films to fixtures

  • Design and production of large-format brand graphics

  • Fabrication of backdrops, plinths, shelving, and counter

  • Kitting, labelling, and assembly documentation

  • On-site installation for first launch location
